Highway 101 near New Minas was closed for four hours Jan. 29 following an early morning collision involving three tractor-trailers.
Kings District RCMP and firefighters from New Minas, Kentville and Wolfville responded to the call around 6:50 a.m. Kings County’s hazardous material support unit was also on scene to deal with a fuel spill.
The highway was closed in both directions between Exit 11A at Granite Drive and Exit 12 near the Irving Big Stop. It reopened at 11 a.m.
Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said the RCMP had not received any reports of injuries but investigators believe weather was a factor.
Eastbound motorists, trying to get back on the highway at Exit 11A, were also delayed after a fuel truck was stuck on ice near the top of the hill. It resulted in motorists needing to go to Exit 11 in Greenwich.
