McDavid scores in OT as Canada beats U.S. to win 4 Nations Face-Off

Fifteen years after Vancouver 2010, the script was the same, but the hero has changed.

Connor McDavid scored in overtime to lift Canada over the United States 3-2 in the final of the 4 Nations Face-Off in Boston.

The Edmonton Oilers captain converted a pass from Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner to lift the Canadians to victory.

Canada’s goaltender Jordan Binnington made two incredible saves in extra time to keep them alive.

Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia’s Nathan MacKinnon opened the scoring in the first period for Canada, he was named tournament MVP.

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk tied it for the Americans later in the first.

Jake Sanderson put the U.S. up 2-1 in the second period, later it was Sam Bennett tying it at two for the Canadians.

A scoreless, tight-checking third period sent the game to overtime, with solid goaltending from Binnington and American Connor Hellebuyck.

A smattering of boos could be heard throughout TD Garden during ‘O Canada,’ sung by Canadian musician Chantal Kreviazuk.

She also changed the lyrics from ‘in all of us command’ to ‘that only us command.’

It’s believed to be in response to to U.S. President Donald Trump’s talk of making Canada the ’51st State.’

The Americans beat Canada 3-1 in Montreal Saturday, Canada had to beat Finland on Monday to advance.
