A weather system is bringing widespread rain to Nova Scotia, with heavy downpours expected in some areas.
Meteorologist Ian Hubbard says a warm front is pushing through the province, shifting any freezing rain to regular rain as temperatures rise.
“We’re going to switch over to some rain and drizzle,” he said. “Then later this evening and overnight, we’ll see heavier rain spread across the province.”
Rain is expected to be heaviest along the Atlantic coast, with totals between 25 and 50 millimetres by the time it ends Tuesday. Some areas could see more, especially in the east, where rain may continue into the evening.
A cold front will follow, bringing cooler temperatures by Wednesday.
Another system may bring similar weather on Thursday, starting with some freezing rain or light snow, then changing to rain later in the day.
Residents are advised to watch for water pooling on roads and minor flooding in low-lying areas.
