Canadian visits to the United States are down for the third consecutive month, according to Statistics Canada.
The number of Canadians returning from the U.S. by vehicle dropped nearly 32 per cent in March to 1.5 million.
It marked the third consecutive month of year-over-year decline and the third decline since March 2021, said StatCan.
The agency’s monthly report also showed that return trips by air were down by 13.5 per cent. Return trips from other countries climbed by around nine per cent.
There were also fewer Americans crossing the border into Canada, but the drop was not as significant.
StatCan said there were 770,400 U.S. resident trips to Canada, a drop of 10.6 per cent — the second consecutive month of year-over-year decline.
