The race is on to win the top prize in the Kraft Hockeyville competition.
The Sackville Arena is one of the final four in the running.
If they win, they will get $250,000 to repair the aging rink and bring an NHL game to the area.
Voting is unlimited and closes at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
While a dedicated team at the rink has been voting nonstop since Friday morning, they were also rooting for a local hockey team playing in Yarmouth. The U15 AA Flyers were down by two points but scored three times in the last five minutes, the room erupting in cheers with each goal.
One of the people organizing the campaign to win the Kraft Hockeyville competition, Colleen Richards, said so many people are rooting for their rink to win the competition.
“The community support here in Sackville and then all of Atlantic Canada really has been tremendous. So many people have been reaching out. So many organizations have been sharing information about voting, about the Sackville arena. It’s overwhelming,” said Richards.
Rob Nurnber, another one of the organizers, said every vote counts.
“Every single vote means it could make the difference between winning and losing. It’s really that simple,” he said.
He said the team of organizers has been working on this for more than a year and they’ve seen a huge commitment from the people in the Sackville. He said he thinks the competition is stiff, with three other rinks in the running, but they have shot at winning.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable. And all of our supporters, we just can’t thank them enough,” he said.
