Tax rates aren’t changing in the Municipality of Shelburne.
The residential rate is $1.26 and the commercial rate is $1.82 per $100 of assessment.
Warden Penny Smith says they’re looking at responsible financial planning in the $13.5 million budget.
“Council’s goal is continuing to improve and maintain the services our residents and business owners continue to expect, as efficiently and effectively as possible,” said Warden Smith.
She notes this year, some costs are going up.
“Education costs are increasing 10.54 percent, and RCMP costs are going up six percent. Waste management costs will also increase significantly.”
Smith adds public engagement sessions are happening in the next couple of months to identify priorities going forward.
Council is developing a new strategic plan, which will impact what the next four budgets will look like.
The capital budget this year is set at $2.2 million.
