The premier of Prince Edward Island is stepping down. Dennis King made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. His resignation as premier and Progressive Conservative leader will take effect on Friday. An interim leader and premier is expected to be announced later on Thursday. King has served as the 33rd premier of P.E.I. since 2019.

One man is dead after a shooting in the Fairview area of Halifax. Police say it happened around 6:20 a.m., Thursday, on McFatridge Road. When crews arrived on scene the man was unconscious on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
